Scientology Victims

Tommy Gorman Tommy Gorman was born into Scientology. What got him out of Scientology was that his friend, Jennifer Stuart, who was 16 years old, she was told to stay with a man. He was very trained up in Scientology and he made them a lot of money for Scientology. Jennifer was raped for months, he used Scientology 'brainwashing' techniques and used Scientology to justify it. So Tommy called a higher up within the organisation, however he did not care. He then sends it off to another man who didn't care either, he thought that the man was a good guy. They constantly tried to justify it and lie about it, and try to cover it up. Scientology protected the man. Tommy luckily had her hidden with his family and protect her from Scientology. Eventually the man was convicted but he only went to jail for 9 months. Katie Holmes Katie Holmes escaped Scientology using a disposable phone to plan with divorce lawyers, hiring three different firms in three different states and renting a ...

Main Project Timeline of Development

Using my information I have already gathered from my digital adventures workshop I will continue researching into Scientology and my goal is to visit the Church in London and record on my findings while also bringing light to the victims and controversies of Scientology. I want to create a publication highlighting how Scientology has a certain control on its followers that makes it extremely hard to leave, I will do this through using my experience and people who have left Scientology and their stories. Using images from my research and my visit to the church to illustrate the control they have. I started roughing some ideas for my front cover. In my publication I will choose 3 members of scientology and tell their stories, I will also highlight certain things that Scientology has been known to do within the church that has caused controversy such as the different money making schemes the church has, the spying of its members and the way in which it separates families. The public...

Scientology Research

The Basics Scientology was founded in 1950 by L.Ron Hubbard, but the first official organisation of 'Scientology' was founded in 1954. When Hubbard was young he kindled a friendship with a tribe of Native Americans named the Blackfoots. This allowed him to learn a great deal about their culture and beliefs. But what is Scientology? Scientology is a religion that offers a path to leading to a complete understanding of ones true spiritual nature and ones connection to self, family, mankind, all lifeforms and the universe. In scientology it is not expected for a member to accept all parts of then religion but wants people to put its teachings into practice and then decide for themselves.  In scientology, it is said that 'man is basically good and that his spiritual salvation depends on himself, his fellows and his attainment to brotherhood with the universe. The Code of a Scientologist 1. To keep Scientologists, the public and the press accurately informed concerning Sciento...

Zero Hour Contracts

Zero hour contracts are job contracts that mean that a employee isn’t required to work a minimum number of hours, they are unpredictable as the employer can ask someone to work whenever they want to, so this puts constant pressure on an employee who doesn’t know when  their next work day will be. You are not guaranteed work in this type of contract.   Researching into zero hour contracts I found out that the most common jobs that are zero hour contracts are accommodation and food.  I want to show my opinion on zero hour contracts through my work and change someones day by presenting them with the problem. The number of people working these types of jobs has increased by 352% since 2012. One of the main problems with zero hour contracts they almost always lead to no career progression and are unstable. The job offered no development or training as they are seen to be temporary roles, however lots of the time they are not.

Digital Adventures Final 10 Images

Digital Adventures Digital Work

Digital Adventures Timeline of Development

After completing my 6 digital adventures I have chosen to research further into my Alien related adventure and perhaps into more alien cults. One idea that I do have for my 10 images is to use the show Ancient Aliens episodes as each image, using the content of each episode to be the content of each image. However I will research more and see what else I can find that may be a good idea for my 10 images. On my start to research more I thought it would be good to look into one of the most notorious and well known alien conspiracy religions, Scientology. Xenu is their God, who was an alien dictator of the Galactic Confederacy. It is said he brought billions of his people to earth and then killed them with atom bombs. I do like the idea of bringing the story of Xenu into a 10 image narrative. Another cult that I looked into in my digital adventures was Heavens Gate, I created some ideas for posters in reference to the cult. I do like these however I am still thinking that I will eit...
