The Basics
Scientology was founded in 1950 by L.Ron Hubbard, but the first official organisation of 'Scientology' was founded in 1954. When Hubbard was young he kindled a friendship with a tribe of Native Americans named the Blackfoots. This allowed him to learn a great deal about their culture and beliefs. But what is Scientology? Scientology is a religion that offers a path to leading to a complete understanding of ones true spiritual nature and ones connection to self, family, mankind, all lifeforms and the universe. In scientology it is not expected for a member to accept all parts of then religion but wants people to put its teachings into practice and then decide for themselves.
In scientology, it is said that 'man is basically good and that his spiritual salvation depends on himself, his fellows and his attainment to brotherhood with the universe.

So looking at the surface of Scientology it seems like the perfect Religion, to me, it seems to not be controlling and the beliefs and codes of the religion are centred around betterment of yourself and to be supportive to everyone. However is there a more sinister movement at play?
What happens when a member wants to leave the Church of Scientology? Well, it has been notoriously difficult to leave the religion. In the past the church have fined people up to $100,000 for the teaching the person has rechieved, however it is much more common for the church to keep a strong eye on you after you leave, being spied on and chased for a long time. This was done so that ever the person was to discredit the church there would be evidence to discredit them.
