Zero hour contracts are job contracts that mean that a employee isn’t required to work a minimum number of hours, they are unpredictable as the employer can ask someone to work whenever they want to, so this puts constant pressure on an employee who doesn’t know when their next work day will be. You are not guaranteed work in this type of contract.
Researching into zero hour contracts I found out that the most common jobs that are zero hour contracts are accommodation and food.
I want to show my opinion on zero hour contracts through my work and change someones day by presenting them with the problem. The number of people working these types of jobs has increased by 352% since 2012.
One of the main problems with zero hour contracts they almost always lead to no career progression and are unstable. The job offered no development or training as they are seen to be temporary roles, however lots of the time they are not.
