  In Today's Workshop we looked at a task Titled 'ANIMAL, VEGETABLE, MINERAL'. In this workshop we looked at how the combination of reference and imagination can help inspire and create work. We looked at the importance of reference images and used reference and memory to create rough drawings. In this case we used the description of  a Rhino to begin with to create a creature from the description. We then were revealed the actual creature that was being described and used reference images to draw from. After this all references were taken away from us and we were left to draw the animal from memory. It highlighted the importance of reference to me in illustration and how it should be used as a tool to create more skillfully drawn work.

  Summer Sketchbook: In my sketchbook/sketchbooks over the summer I didn’t continue with a theme throughout but instead drew as I wanted and what I wanted to. I do this in my sketchbooks as I think the freedom to do what you please helps me enjoy work more. You’ll see that in my sketchbooks I work a lot from reference images as well drawing ‘from my imagination’. I tend to draw people a lot in my sketchbooks and characters that go no further than them few pages. I really enjoy this aspect of my sketchbook. I also started doing the ‘Escape’ Project that was emailed to us near the beginning of summer however this was for some reason changed later on to a different kind of project. So I have a series of pages on the Escape Project.
